Talk of a Resistance-July 29,1942

Dear Diary,
Less than a week ago the Germans came into the ghetto again with threats and promises that the deportations would begin again here in the ghetto and they sure have begun. We of the ghetto needed a way to protect ourselves from any possible invasion of the Nazis and we had began to talk about this since the deportations started at first. The biggest news is that yesterday it was made official that a new resistance group here in the ghetto would be formed which would be called the ZOB. We in the ZOB are mostly young Jewish males who wish to lead the Jews in a resistance against the Nazis to free ourselves from there control. Just days after the deportations began it was began to be said that many of the people being taken from this ghetto where being taken to concentration camps, extermination camps or killed on there way to there new location. This has caused great distress in myself and in my brother because our parents where taken in the deportations and this means that there is a great chance that they have been killed by the Nazis but until we are told for sure we will keep our hope alive that they are still alive. Although of the recent deportations we will not begin the resistance just yet the proper training must be given to everyone first. I am determined to become a part of the ZOB and fight against the Nazis at all cost.
